            The Chief Executive submitted the summons convening the meeting.

            Apologies for inability to attend were reported for Alderman McCoubrey and Councillors Bower, Cobain, Ferguson, Hutchinson, Maghie, Nelson and Verner.

            The Lord Mayor declared an interest in relation to the item “Community Support Programme” within the Strategic Policy and Resources Committee minutes, in that she worked for an organisation which had applied for funding.

            Alderman Copeland declared an interest in relation to the items “Community Support Programme” and “Summer Community Diversionary Festivals Programme” within the Strategic Policy and Resources Committee minutes, in that her daughter worked for the Greater Village Regeneration Trust.

            Alderman Haire declared an interest in relation to the item “Request for the use of Barnett Demesne and the Cenotaph” within the Strategic Policy and Resources Committee minutes, in that he was a trustee of the County Grand Orange Lodge, Belfast.

            Councillor Beattie declared an interest in relation to the item “Community Support Programme” within the Strategic Policy and Resources Committee minutes, in that he was employed by an organisation which had applied for funding.

            Councillor Bunting declared an interest in relation to the item “Community Support Programme” and “Summer Community Diversionary Festivals Programme” within the Strategic Policy and Resources Committee minutes, in that she was a member of a group which had applied for funding.

            Councillor Canavan declared an interest in relation to the item “Social Supermarket Funding – Update” within the People and Communities Committee minutes, in that she was a Board Member of an organisation which had applied for funding.

            Councillor Gormley declared an interest in relation to the items “Community Support Programme” and “Summer Community Diversionary Festivals Programme” within the Strategic Policy and Resources Committee minutes, in that he was a board member of LORAG which had applied for funding.

            Councillor Groogan declared an interest in relation to the items “Community Support Programme” and “Micro and Medium Grants 2023/24” within the Strategic Policy and Resources Committee minutes, in that she was employed by an organisation which had applied for funding.

            Councillor McCabe declared an interest in relation to the items “Community Support Programme”, “Micro and Medium Grants 2023/24” and “Summer Community Diversionary Festivals Programme” within the Strategic Policy and Resources Committee minutes, in that she worked for an organisation which had applied for funding.

            Councillor Murray declared an interest in relation to the item “Micro and Medium Grants 2023/24” within the Strategic Policy and Resources Committee minutes, in that he was employed by an organisation which had applied for funding.

            As none of the above items became the subject of debate, no Member left the meeting.

      Resolved - That the minutes of the proceedings of the monthly meeting of the Council of 3rd April be taken as read and signed as correct.

            The Lord Mayor, along with a number of Members, offered their condolences to Councillor Kyle on the recent loss of his brother.

            Councillor Bunting offered her condolences to Councillor Verner on the recent passing of her brother and to former Councillor, Lee Reynolds, on the death of his father.

Congratulations

            The Lord Mayor congratulated Alderman Haire on his recent wedding.

Well Wishes

            Several Members sent best wishes to those Members who were not standing in the upcoming election and thanked them for their hard work over the previous four years.

      That the minutes of the proceedings of the Strategic Policy and Resources Committee of 21st April, omitting matters in respect of which the Council has delegated its powers to the Committee, be approved and adopted.

Amendment

      Seconded by Councillor Beattie, and

            Resolved – “That the Council agrees not to progress with the Single Tender Action for the acquisition of a unique giant bubble art installation by Atelier Sisu.”

Adoption of Minutes

      Subject to the foregoing amendment, the minutes of the proceedings of the Strategic Policy and Resources Committee of 21st April were thereupon approved and adopted.

      Resolved - That the minutes of the proceedings of the People and Communities Committee of 4th April be approved and adopted.

      Resolved - That the minutes of the proceedings of the City Growth and Regeneration Committee of 5th April be approved and adopted, subject to the omission of the minute under the heading Committee Plan 2023-24 and End of Year Report 2002-23, which was taken back to the Committee for further consideration.
